S27A850T

So, new models during the second half of this year? Great! After so much time researching I've made up my mind and now there are new models around the corner. This is frustrating.

I have a question for u guys. Why all the specs I see about this monitor, show it as only been capable of 16 million colors, and not 1 billion like all the other great monitors? (This is probably the only real reason I don't buy this monitor)

16 million vs 1 billion vs 1 quadrilion is irrelevant. The human eye won't notice the difference.

How is Samsung warranty? I waited long for this monitor and I don't want to be departed from it for long, It's great monitor even with all the errors I currently have. Anyone have experience with Samsung warranty?

I just had my S24A850D go defective and it was basically 4 months old. A little more than a week ago, I sent it back for an RMA (don't use the site to file an rma, use the support chat and let the person file it for you, because the site itself is buggy.). I just got it back today, and it so far works perfectly. They even fixed that single dead pixel that I didn't complain about. But the original problem was that it was doing random vertical lines on the right side of the screen.

So, it's pretty good. Quicker than I thought. I thought it would take more than 2 weeks, but it was less than that. Note that I pretty much only sent the bare monitor and the power supply and the hydraulic-like post stand. I didn't send the base mount or any cables back at all.

NEC has one that can display 1 trllion colors, but response time makes it unusable for normal people.

displays with 1 billion colours=wide gamut=inaccurate and over-saturated colours. A decent colorimeter and calibration software are required to get proper colours close to the sRGB standard which pretty much everything uses.

So, to you, the more colours, the more technologicaly advanced the monitor is?

Most people don't need wide gamut and will actually regret their purchase unless they have a specific use for wide gamut.

Also people often believe that more saturated colours is a sign of more colours and better quality. Nothing farther from the truth.

Can someone confirm this, is it only in my model or does the all models have burn-in? 850D is OK too, the panel should be same. I have brightness on 50 and when I watch against grey background I see burn-in of desktop icons/browser addressbar etc.
I don't think it should do this. I haven't yet sent it to warranty because with all the flaws I have it's still great, damnit.

All LCDs can "burn-in". I have a Dell VA panel from 2007 that has it pretty bad at times. The only way I've found to clean it up is to leave the panel OFF for an extended period of time. I discovered this when I was trying to get rid of burn-in with RGB slide screensavers, leaving WHITE on for extended periods of time, and nothing worked. Then I moved, and the monitor sat in a box for 3 days, and when I turned it back on, it was perfectly clean- no amount of burn-in. I now have the monitor idle off instead of use a screensaver, and it hasn't been a problem.

I had the same issue with mine, the vertical lines... maybe it's a common issue?

Samsung's warranty support took care of it fairly quickly, but I sold the display shortly after because it was replaced with a Shimian.

I don't understand why this monitor is still so hard to find. No one seems to stock it, even though it has obviously been released,

I don't disagree that wide gamut can mean over saturated colors, unless using a color-aware app.

But 1 billion colors does not need wide gamut, nor even imply it. It's about less or zero banding, not wider color space.

True, but most of the "1 billion colour," displays people want (U2410/U2711/3011/ZR30w/PA246Q) are wide gamut, so I usually erroneously refer to them as wide gamut displays.

I almost think its funny all these people who wonder if the new ah-ips panels won't have the aggressive ag coating.

Reality: they will.
