Since 27" is just too big... anyone try the 23" version yet? Looks to be in stock at circuit city.

Other considerations:

T23A750 $549.99 old stand 3ms wifi hdmi
T23A750D $449.99 old stand 2ms hdmi, displayport,
S23A950D $449.99 new stand 2ms hdmi, dvi, displayport,
T23A950D $549.99 new stand 3ms

Are you able to send 120hz over hdmi/displayport? I kind of want the old stand for mounting purposes but I'm worried about it not having a dvi port.

I wonder how the input lag compares to the Benq, Alienware and LG for fps gaming :)

I just got the S23A750D which (I'm pretty sure) uses the same panel and doesn't have the desk hogging base. I put a couple pictures up in the stickied megathread for LCD setups. 120Hz works over DP, but I haven't tried HDMI. There's plenty of information about these screens in the S27A950 thread since they're all pretty much the same in function from what I can tell.

I'm definitely glad I got the 23". 1080p over 27" seems way too low to me. Besides that, large displays seem to negatively effect my performance in games like LoL since you can't really zoom out much. Playing TF2 with the 120 Hz is awesome, it's much smoother. I played around with the 3D a bit and, once my eyes adjusted, it did seem to increase my direct hits and mid-airs with the grenade launcher. That said, I found it to be rather annoying, made my eyes feel funny, and didn't I see any benefit with the other classes, so I'll be boxing the glasses back up for the foreseeable future.

The colors leave a bit to be desired, but you probably already know that since it's a TN panel. The color shittiness is pretty obvious in person, but if you're looking for a gaming monitor (which I was), this is a pretty solid bet. I did the research, so I knew the drawbacks. Overall I'm not disappointed at all; the 120 Hz is going to be a deal breaker going forward for me in any gaming display. I'd never seen a screen with 120 Hz input in person before, just my TV's god-awful artifact creating Auto Motion shit. True 120 Hz does not disappoint.

well my 580 doesn't have a display port so i guess i need to get the S23A950D

Could you elaborate on the colour shittiness? The TN-based XPS15's screen seems pretty decent colour wise to me so I'm hoping the Samsung would at least equal that.

Unfortunately I'm not really sure I can. I am not the best at describing these things since I don't have any sort of training in the matter. Over the last couple days I've been gradually tweaking it as I find color values that aren't represented well and it has gotten much better, but gradients are still stepwise and the colors just seem off, as if I can't get the saturation under control. Even with my TV I was able to bring it in line with some work (though it's still a bit weak in the blacks if I let the brightness come up enough to see dark scenes clearly.) And even on this relatively small 23" screen, the color gradation due to viewing angle is obvious with an even fill. Looking straight on, the color change towards the edges of the screen is fairly subtle, but apparent. By contrast, as much as I hate Apple for a lot of its business practices and philosophies, I have to admit that my MBP hasn't had any of theses sorts of issues.

I'd be glad if this is just me being inexperienced, but I don't think it's the case. If I'm able to get it to display colors accurately, I'll be happy to retract anything bad I've said about its color performance.

As I said earlier, if you're looking for a gaming display, this monitor works very well, just don't expect a color accurate display for PS work.

Have you tried setting your Magic Angle settings to "Group View?" I had the same issue, trying to get the display to look right even after using ColorEyes to calibrate it. After changing the Magic Angle settings on my S27A950D, it looks a lot better. It's still not as good as my IPS displays, but it does look pretty respectable.

Thanks for that, that did make it a bit better! I'm not quite willing to take it all back yet, but it does look pretty decent now.
