Hey guys,

I have ordered 2 Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000 RPM fans for my S1283, I am hoping to replace the stock fan with 1 of them, and then maybe my exhaust fan with the other.

However, what would be the best way to mount them? I'm sure the 38mm thickness will be too large for the rubber things that were included. Where exactly would I zip tie the fan to on the HSF? Near the bottom of the heat pipes, or through the fins in the top/middle?

Also, think I will have enough space to stick one on the other side of it?
 
through the fins

I just put a single Ultra kaze on my S1283 and just used 4 zip ties through the fins. No its hard to get it tight enough and the vibrations make the fan slide down a little, So dur to that and the weight of it, I put something like a shim between the HS+F's and the bottom of the case or support and so the fans dont slide down.

Not sure what stuff you have in your case but it should fit 2 38mm fans just fine
 
How did you manage to actually get the zip tie through the fins? You've got it going through the 4 screw holes right? I'm unable to bend the zip tie around and get it back out the other side, lol.

Maybe I need smaller zip ties. =P

No, no, no

Like I was trying to tell you in your last thread. You use 8 zip ties, 4 of them you only use the locking end, you cut off the rest.

So you take the 4 zip ties through the fan holes>HS>Fan holes. Then on the end you use those cut ends to zip onto the zipties to lock it

I have an ultra kaze 3000 that is mounted on my s1283 with the "rubber things". Works fine.

I Had The Same Setup You Want To Do
It Will Work Fine With The Rubber Things
 
Got it all rigged up...used the rubber things for the front fan, and zip ties for the back one!

Only problem is now, they're both plugged into the mobo and loud as fuck. Gotta stop by Fry's tomorrow and get some extensions so they can reach my fan controller. =P
 
Zipties in that pic are exactly how my yates are mounted to my S1283. Works like a charm.
