Anyone get an artic cooling S1 on their 4870 yet? I think it would work, I wonder what ram sinks to use on the voltage regulators

Aw cool thanks for those pics :) Frys sells those zalman heatsinks. I'll have to pick some up and try it on my 4780 when it get here :)

Is it hard to install?

At such low temps, surely it can go a shitload farther than 700 core?

Not really, you just have to take the usual care as you would when fitting a CPU heatsink. I'd never done a graphics card before, but it's fairly easy.

I'm hoping it can go further than 700, it handles 700 very easily. Gonna wait and see what develops in the next few weeks now with 3rd party overclocking tools and volt mods.

The difference between this and that crappy stock cooler is quite something.

I know the S1 fits fine on the 4850, but I wonder if the 4870 mounting holes are the same as the 4850.

With that S1 on can you crossfire any more? It looks like that thing covers up the crossfire connectors and even if it didn't the extra size of the s1 could prevent 2 cards from fitting in the spots where the pcie connectors are.

700 is the wall for me, wont be able to go higher without more voltage.

The end heat pipe is in the way of the CF connectors. If there was enough slack in the CF cable you might be able to make it work.

But temps are definitely NOT a problem now. Lol

Going to hold out for the 4870x2 :D

Yeah it fit on the 4870, I just installed one, but you must move one of the bottom ram heatsink because it's too tall and interfere with the copper pipe.

Had to remove it, the card would crash under load.

Nice. There's no way I'm fitting two of those with 120mm fans in my P182 though unless I use their custom Turbo fans or something.

You can, but you have to bend 1 fin on one of the coolers. You also cannot fit a 120mm fan on the top card. You need to get the specific turbo modules for them (or any fan with a lower profile).
