I have an LCD TV that can do 800*600 rez but only has S-video input.
What is the best way to hook it to a computer for gaming.
Do I have to use S-video out on my computer video card, or is there some way I can use the vga out on my computer to the s-video in on the TV and get a better picture. I want a better then s-video picture if possible.
 
Hey musicmaser , Would that cable let me have a cleaner picture, more like a true 800*600 rez and not a fuzzyer s-video tv type picture ? Would the picture look more like a computer monitor's picture ?
 
I think the only benefit of using cables like that is for physical connector differences. The rationale behind what you describe is that since it will start out as VGA, by the end of the line it will be better than if it started out as S-video. That's not going to be necessarily true even assuming nothing is lost during the conversion, because the VGA signal is going to be downgraded to S-video anyway, and it might even look worse unless the cable is of good build also. This cable in particular appears to splice the signal across multiple connectors, which can only make it look worse. Any time a definite input is being used, you are going to be limited by that input's capabilities. You can never have any better than S-video quality on an S-video input, no matter what you put through it. The excess picture information from the 15 pin can not be utilized during the conversion, because an S-video signal can only transmit what an S-video signal can transmit! It's similar to what happens with DVI-analog adapters, you lose more than what you gain during the conversion. It's more important to preserve the signal from the source and along the way, which translates to, above all, getting some beefy, high quality cables.
