ok i have a HP pavilion dv5046ea

I want to use the S-video socket for my TV. according to the help files you just plug in and press Fn+F4....did this and nothing happens..

I'm not totally sure if i'm using the correct cable here...this socket i have has 4 pins and a large plastic pin...is this the right s-video cable to use???

you might need to go into display properties, click on the settings tab and click on the advanced tab. Some where in there should be an option, but it will vary depending on the video card and the only one I am familiar with is ATI.

I have a ATI radeon xpress 200M

If u just take me through a standard ati card i should find it....

To make sure the second display (TV) is initialised, plug everything in with the TV switched on and then power the PC up.
You should see a flicker on the TV as the PC boots, hopefully this is the TV detecting.
You then need to go into the display properties as mentioned above to configure how you wish to use it.

If you use ATI tools, right click the tray icon and select display, choose your options...
Cant help you with CCC (Catalyst Control Centre) as I just found mine is naffed!
