Does anyone use an S-video cable to connect their video card to their LCD?

I tried connecting my 6800gt to a 2405fpw with an s-video cable and am getting some really poor PQ and resolution, with a max of 1024x768. Is there something about S-video that makes it a poor option for a PC video card connection?

Yes, it shouldn't be used to connect a PC to a monitor, you should be using DVI

okay then why do most recent cards include S-video connectors (including the most recent 7800 series), and why are LCD monitors (like the Dell) equipped with them?

FYI, I am trying to use the PIP function on the Dell to display side-by-side images from two different PCs on the same screen. This requires using two digital connectors (DVI and S-video), so I assume that Dell meant for video cards to be connected thru the S-video.

The S-Video port is TV out, i.e. used to output to a TV, it's not high quality for a computer. The input on the monitor is to accept thing's like a PS2 or XBox (much like the Component input and/or composite input available). Any computer's should be hooked upto DVI and if you've already used that the second computer should get hooked up to the VGA port.
