I run it at 1600x1200 with most settings to max (some of the shadows and stuff turned down) on the object dynamic lighting and it looks DAMN good, and overall is very playable.

My flashlight wont work at all! I've got the latest patch and everything is maxed out and runs awesome. This flashlight is really pissing me off! By the way, I have an 8800GTS 640.
Someone please help!
I've tried to use L and even re-assigned it and it still doesn't work. I've read other people are having this problem too, but there is no fix for it yet.
Seems like its been established that an 8800 will handle it.
Is anyone here running it on a 7950GX2 with good results, using the current WHQL 93.71 drivers?
Thanks!
I still can't seem to run this game for more than 5-6 minutes.
I'm not sure if it's the new 8800 drivers or the game or what, but I can run the game maxed out with no issues, but it shuts itself down a LOT.
Quickload = crash. "Use last save" = lock-up. 10 minutes of play = crash.
I can't accomplish anything and the head bob is annoying as hell to boot. I'm sorry, but your eyes simply don't DO that.
Seems like I'm stuck waiting for another patch.
Cool. Thanks for the heads up. Thus far I think the game seems unique enough, so I *want* to play it. I'll turn lighting effects down and see what happens.
Seems like they messed up on the dynamic lighting badly..this game kills ANY gaming machine with it on.. Sad!
I don't believe that'll be necessary unless youre running it at his insane resolution too... I ran it smoothly on my old AMD 64 3000+ / 6800GT / 1GB DDR400 with the lighting on Static.. yours will run it just fine provided the resolution isnt too high.

Not necessarily true. 8800gts and gtx run decently even with full dynamic lighting.
Dynamic lighting on one card is actually quite playable on my machine. It doesn't work correctly in SLI mode and it causes the game to crash after just a few minutes with SLI enabled or disabled. With the game set to static lighting I can play for hours on end without issues with SLI enabled or disabled.
Not necessarily true. 8800gts and gtx run decently even with full dynamic lighting. And resolution doesnt really seem to do much difference. 800x600 runs pretty much the same as 1920x1200 (on 8800gts 640 atleast)
What CPU are you using? The framrates dropped to around 15 in the open areas with dynamic lighting on my computer at 1600x1200. Still playable, but feels kinda choppy. It seems that most of the people that are saying that the game runs okay are using the C2D and 8 series card. Is anyone with the X2 (or Opteron dual core) getting decent frame rates from this game?
Sigh, my cpu was awesome a year ago.![]()
Nope, an X6800 Extreme would gain you only 5 FPS. (test is w/ SLI 7900GTX)
<snip>
That is interesting. I would not have known that. If only I could afford SLI 8800GTX's..![]()
I might have been a little over exuberant when I said it kills 'any gaming machine'.. haha. But it surely seems to be exhausting many people's machines.
Stalker is a real sucker for video ram. It is no wonder if it doesn't run too well with 256 or 320mb of local video memory. This is what rivatuner says: Video ram is the "mem" where on the left is local memory usage and on the right is non local memory. Add them up and it's almost 700mb!
What resolution are you playing at? Since that picture is taken with an actual camera I can't tell.
It was at 2560x1600, and yes that is a too high resolution with my rig and that game BUT it does use a shitload of video mem even at lower resolutions. At 1280x1024 it was about 500MB!
