Hey [H]!
I've lurked around here for many years now. Your Display and Worklog sections are unmatched in quality standards for open communities, i don't know what's kept me from signing up for this long.
Anyways, flashforward to my question if you don't mind:
I was a very early adopter of IPS, amazed at the viewing angles and picked up the DELL 2000FP (4:3) as soon as it was made available. This means i've had it for several years now and with time, it has really deteriorated.
Over the later course of its life, colors have become severely distorted in certain areas of the screen. It's "fixable" by leaving a complex screensaver on over the night, but the problem returns as soon as a static image (ie, a wallpaper) is displayed.
This is tolerable, but what's worse is the burn-ins it suffers from in the lower part of the screen. Any UI in any program (i moved the windows bar to OS X top-position long ago) will inevitably get burnt in and takes days of a full white treatment to get rid of.

Now, as OLED hasn't come as quick as i'd hoped and my need for more workspace (effectively monitor real estate) has increased - i'm opting to purchase the largest monitor available in Apples new Cinema Display line (guessing they'll be released along with dodeca core dual gulftown xeons MacPros in Q1).
I guess what i'm wondering is, can i expect the same deterioration and honestly pretty short lifetime with that new display, or has S-IPS changed in some way, perhaps helped by the LED backlighting (I'm not 100% the Apple displays are S-, perhaps H-, Apple doesn't specify beyond IPS?)?
Might be pretty hard to answer given no LED backlit IPS's have been around for as long as my 2000FP, but should i hope to see my next monitor healthier for longer?
note: using my viewsonic P227f CRT (former reference, now primary) monitor atm.
Thankful for any input, this has been pretty tricky to google!
