I'm tyring to hook up the HDD Led, Power Switch, ... and the only indication for polarity on some of the wires is an "S". Does this stand for Positive or Negative? I've heard that for some things it doesn't matter but I'm sure it makes a difference on some of these switches. Thanks.

Matters on LEDs, but not on switches.

Guess one way on the LEDs. Try it. If it doesn't work, swap them around. Works for me.

....I found one MoBo that woudn't boot unless the power switch was installed the right way. Doesn't make sense to me, either, but I was so happy when I found the issue (checked it several times to make sure I hadn't lost my last few cookies) but son of a gun, that was it.

Bottom line - switches, LED's, whatever - try 'em and reverse the connections if they don't work.

It's not like you'll fry the motherboard if the power LED is in wrong. It's the one part of building a PC that's truly trial and error.

I can explain the unbootable PC with the switch wired wrong.

I bet it was an older system, and had the ground leg of the switch connected to a ground leg of another switch.
