Ryzen Shipping Thread

I cancelled my ryzen pre-order, think I', going to wait for Coffee Lake. Looks like intel is going to release a mainstream i7 with 6 cores in 2017. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/02/intel-coffee-lake-14nm-release-date/

Only question is motherboard compatibility, will it use 1151 or a new socket?
The only question is whether you will plunk down over $400 when you will get similar performance on the 1600k next month for $259 . Your choice. Coffe Lake was scaled back to 14nm. It will not be a dramatic improvement over what is currently available from Intel. It will not be much cheaper at all since they are not doing a process shrink and there will be no improvement in die yield and monopolist Intel is trying to maintain its inflated profit yields at the expense of users who when Intel tells them to bend over, ask how much.

Amd 1700x arriving Wednesday and Asus Crosshair still hasn't Shipped from Amazon yet.

The only question is if my sanity will survive all of the negativity from the anti-AMD forces. So much hate.

Buy a Ryzen they said. It will make you not a pussy they said.

1700x just shipped from amazon today. Still no order update on on the asus prime x370 other than i cant cancel it and it hasnt shipped.

ordered an x1700 and b350 tomahawk off newegg and it will still be here before the amazon order.

Hell yeah. There should be membership cards. The slogan could be "If Shantai disagrees with you, you're heading in the right direction!" I nominate ManofGod as leader.

Coffee Lake will have 6 core mainstream CPUs. That's what I'm after.

Ryzen 1700 is here but still no shipment on the board. Customer service can't even tell me when it will ship. I thought the whole point of pre-ordering was so you didn't have to worry about them being out of stock? Might be time to cancel prime.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure it's going to be a damn good CPU.
Wish they would share the socket details. If CL reuses 1151 I'd buy a 270 board now with a G4560, then swap the new 6 core CPU in on launch day.

Wow my Biostar Gt7 shipped on launch day from the Egg. Sitting here with memory and NVME drive but no CPU.
Looks like Amazon got Ingram Micro to ship me a 1700X it arrives tomorrow. New eggs CPU arrives Wednesday. Yea?

Went to cancel motherboard order at Newegg due to some concerns over the continuous booting issue and it was shipped today :wideyed:. ASUS Rog CrossHair VI. I should get it Thursday. Might as well try it out, probably keep the ram at 2(666)mhz which seems the max speed where the motherboard does not auto self destruct. That is until problem is resolved or I return it.

Chip and mobo arrived today! Almost done with the build but it's getting late so will finish tomorrow.

I don't see what your laughing about. I do not have a problem with your choosing what you want. I just hope the last laugh won't be on you.
I was laughing at you complaining about the drive. Had nothing to do about me buying intel over amd. In fact i'm leaving here in about 15 minutes to make that same 3 hour drive again to buy a 1700x. I was going to buy a 1700 but its only like 20 bucks more at microcenter for the X, so I'm just going to have both. Also no pun intended, I won't laugh this time.

The receiver was not available at the time of the first delivery attempt. A second attempt will be made.

Yeah right UPS, i was not sitting behind my desk at that address, with my phone right next to me. Let's hope you deliver my board tomorrow.

Finally got a delivery date from Amazon on my asus prime b350m-a...Of next Tuesday. Doesn't look like anyone has stock of any matx boards so no choice but to wait it out at this point.

SOON

Just got back, 6 hour trip. I'm going to just throw a temp video card i have laying around until vega comes out. I want this to be a pure amd build. I think buying a rx480 would be a waste since i feel vega is so close! They were out of the M.2 drive i wanted so i ordered it online the 960 evo is hard to get! 500gb is the hardest one to grab!

Nice. :) Where you able to get the 1700X on sale for $349?

Got my 1700x from Newegg yesterday.
Waterblock is out for delivery today.

Still waiting on my mainboard from Amazon. :(

i was! it must of been a one day sale on it or something!

Yeah, I am going to call today and see if I can get a price match. Even if it is just a store credit of $50, I will use that plus the $30 off on the motherboards to get a 1700 and Asus B350 motherboard. (I sold my Asus 970 Pro setup so that is another $200 to use, if I can get that price match difference.)

See, that is what you get for being on Linux. ;) Yeah, when you share that 1/3 games stuff, it gets really annoying. :D However, I still would like to know how everything performs once you get it setup and if you had to reload everything or it was all just plug and play. :) Are you going to manually install the latest kernel with Ryzen support?

I got my Board from The egg Saturday and the x1700 from Amazon yesterday put it together and NO POST!.
Reset both BIOS no go tried another video card even though I just pulled from a know working system I am posting this from.
Tried 1 stick of ram in the 2 slot per manual. Nothing either stick.
Remove and reinstalled motherboard looking for extra post that happened before.
Nothing! Just a rapid power button on the board that blinks really fast.
Re-boxed the CPU which looked like it was already opened. Will try the CPU from New egg just in case tomorrow.

They are giving me $50 back but it has to be in store to do so. Therefore, I am going to pick up a Ryzen 1700 Non X and a Asus B350 motherboard for my work computer. What do you think of the motherboard? Also have to pick up some ram but I will probably do that through Newegg.

I was going to wait until later in the year but, I figured for the $50, I might as well grab it since I can only get that back within 15 days of the purchase.

Edit: Prime B350 that is.

Just so ya'll know, I appreciate all of you early adopters here and your struggles. It makes buying my stuff in the second month much easier :)

<3 you!

You are very much welcome. :) In the mean time, I will enjoy my Ryzen build from day one. :D Thankfully, I did not buy the Asus Crosshair because it appears to be the one with the most problems.

I'm not expecting much difficulty getting up and running. The computer my Ryzen build is replacing (an i7 4930k) runs Linux Mint. One time I accidentally booted up that Mint install on a completely different machine (an AMD FX-8320), other than a short pause during the first boot it had no problems at all. I'm going to attempt the same thing with Ryzen just to see what happens. I may have to manually update the kernel beforehand but that's probably it.

Still nothing from Amazon about my motherboard. I've been limping along on this dying x79 setup for months and I have my brand new Ryzen CPU sitting right next to me. Why have you forsaken me Amazon, why?

Well, I hope that get the board to you soon. It is cool that Ryzen is getting so much love, even with all the hate that is going around online. I am probably going down to the Ohio Microcenter this weekend and picking up parts for my work computer. They are giving me $50 back because they had a sale for the 1700X at $349 for a short time so that is why I am doing the second computer now.

Fantastic! Just got this email from Corsair.

Thank you for being one of the thousands of people to have ordered a complimentary CORSAIR AM4 bracket. We’re excited to bring our Hydro Series liquid cooler to the new family of AMD Ryzen™ Processors and the new AM4 socket.

However, due to significantly higher than expected demand for our AM4 bracket, we regret that there will be a delay in shipping your order. We are working hard to fulfill every request as fast as possible, and will update you again shortly to provide an estimated delivery date.

Gonna be running that stock 1700 air cooler for a while I guess.

yeah it sounds like amazon dropped the ball pretty hardcore. sorry man
Amazon sucks. The bottom line is they should not have accepted any pre-orders if they did not have the items stocked. Period. There is absolutely no excuse. The whole point of pre-ordering is to reserve an item for purchase when there is limited stock. I'm done with them, they're dead to me. Amazon is going to eat a lot of loss on this from me, I did the following with a supervisor on an approximately 2 hour long phone call:
  • Canceled Amazon Prime, set to renew in April.
  • Setup a return for about 25 individual orders that I recently purchased. I'll re-buy the stuff from a competitor.
I can't imagine what it is going to cost them to ship back a lawn mower, dethatcher, ATV lift, garden cart, etc.

I was close to doing the same, but I love prime overall and nobody else seems to have mATX boards, either. I'm still pissed, but I don't think there was anyplace else I'd have gotten a mATX board yet unless I drove to a microcenter, which is 3-4 hour roundtrip drive for me.

Still no word on my Crosshair from Amazon. I also read the email from Corsair that the adapter to make my H105 work on the 1700X is backordered. I'm going to have a processor, case, and memory but they will just collect dust. The only blessing in disguise is that by the time I build my system perhaps mobo updates will lead to a more positive experience overall.
