Ryzen on Linux issues..?

Any of you guys run Ryzen on Linux? Have you been able to reproduce the compile issues mentioned here..?

I work from home once in a while and I _DO_ need compiling to work as I do compile out-of-kernel drivers for hardware @ work for distribution to linux servers.

With compiles randomly failing I can't possibly use this as a "work-from-home" box.

I don't see the benefit for my windows/gaming box as it's Win7 & not officially supported.

Any of you guys who HAVE Ryzen setups able to reproduce these issues from the scripts made available in that (as of this writing) 36 page thread?

I have a Ryzen system & I use Gentoo. I have not experienced any issues. I am on GCC-7 and nothing overly aggressive in my flags

Have you tried the linked tests from that thread? If so can you detail your HW.

Yeah, probably aren't that many of us on here that remember that. Admittedly I barely remember it as I was really young at that time.

After over 39 consecutive hours of testing with the updated kill-ryzen.sh script on Ubuntu 18.04, I am sure my Ryzen 2700 does not have this flaw.

There were reports of failures in that AMD 127 page thread from CPUs made in week 47 of last year. So the only the first batch was not correct. Well if the user reports were indeed true.

My Ryzen 1700 chip was affected by this. It could cause all sorts of instability, not only when compiling code even tabs in Firefox could crash. I was week 22.

AMD was really nice about it and gave me a replacement pretty much no questions asked (I never spoke to anyone). In any case, I went and bought a Ryzen 2600 because I thought it would be better for me, and I've had no problems since.

Yep case of AMD doing the right thing all round. They listened, replicated... and then immediately made public they would replace effected chips. The number of effected chips was supposedly not a massive number of chips, they could have put their fingers in their ears. I have no doubt the blue team would have done just that. I mean I know the Pentium 3 thing was 20 years back now. Still it effected basically every P3, took them 4 months of denials and downplaying to agree to replacements. (they also admitted they knew about the bug during production and just pushed on)

They didn't send me a new one to replace my K6 or Athlon! :vamp:
