Apparenty there are some rumblings about a refresh to AMD's RV770 to combat the upcoming 55nm GT206/200b parts that are "now shipping" from NVIDIA. The supposed chip will be redesigned to allow much higher clocks to allow the 10 SIMD clusters to come into "full swing" and will allow a single GPU RV790 board to be competitive with or outperform the Green Goblin's GTX 280.
This is news to me, and it would be great for this to actually come to fruition, but personally I think we won't see anything but price drops on the RV770 boards until RV870 rears its ugly head(s).
