I certainly hope that this is not the only change, since the X2 640 Stream Processors, can barely keep up with the 128 in the GTX or Ultra.

No news about AA logic fix and number of ROPs / TMUs, though in the original link, some speculate 20 ROPs and 32 TMUs.

Barely? Are we forgetting the massive texture advantage that the GTX/Ultra have not to mention the NV shaders are clock x2? We all know that the shaders in the NV parts are more efficient. But lets not forget there are many other factors here that effect the over all speed besides just the number of units.

It looks like it will be current rv670 with a 25% increase (or 50% increase according to other rumors) of logical units (rops , tmus , shaders).

Yes, barely.

And I did mention the other factors, like AA logic, TMUs and ROPs.

I think it's pretty commonly accepted that the RV770 is the core that makes up the multi-core variants of the R7xx line. So it may be that R770 has 800 SPs by itself, which makes R700 likely 1600SPs. Combined with 55nm fabrication and GDDR5, I wouldn't be at all surprised if AMD delivers this time around. But even if it turns out power-hungry and slow-ish, it will still be more of an improvement than Geforce 8 -> Geforce 9 :p

thats because the R680 has to rely on crossfire to make those numbers, a single chip with 800SP would be alot faster then 2 chips with 640 total on the same architecture

FarberWare's new SE-690 model has 40 ROPs and 64 TMUs. ATI is in trouble...rofl

I kid, I kid.

But seriously, just wait to find out. No point in speculating what isn't even made yet.
