I'm moving out to college Aug 31st (Cooper Union w00t) - so I've decided to downsize from a LL v1200 to a LL A05b. I don't even know if my dorm room can accommodate a desktop, but screw it.

Oh yeah, this will be my first adventure with watercooling!

By the way, I’m using several OLD cameras as well as my Droid X for pictures – so many pictures will look like complete shit. Eh, I can’t do much about it. I don’t have time to make a proper shooting setup either lol.

Hardware:
Lian Li PC-A05b
EVGA x58 LE
Intel Core i7 930
Corsair Dominator 3x 1gb 1600mhz
EVGA GTX260 (for now, until I can sort things out)
Silverstone Strider 700w modular
Havn’t decided on hard drive
Lite-on blu ray drive

WC:
Watercool Heatkiller 3.0 LT
EK-FB EVGA X58 LE - Black Acetal+Nickel
MIPS Ram Block
EK Res
HW Labs GTS 120 & 240
EK-D5 X-Top rev.2
Laing D4 Pump (I think it’s D4, I forget)
Tygon Silver Tubing 1/2ID 3/4OD
Comp Fittings

OK so here's some random pictures i've accumulated thus far:

Bought this HK from Fitseries3 - Thanks!

Oh yeah I forgot to mention... one of my cameras is extremely old and crappy - but I've modded it to do IR macro's haha.

Silver Tygon sponsored by my mom's company - lol. Hooray Merck.

Edit: they were from cdnbum88 .. ty ;P

Bolted on with M4 button heads... btw the finish on this Radgrill is for some reason different from a 120 that I have. It's like chalky or something - I'm kind of dissapointed. I'll take pictures comparing the 2 finishes later.

Need to finish uploading the rest of the pics~

Couldn't resist buying these for like $3-4 at Microcenter lol... if those 3mm white LED's make it here from hong kong before I leave, a change is in order.

As a bonus, I made a SolidWorks model of the MIPS ram cooler. (Part of a final project for a summer course). Makes me wonder, why did they add channels to the acetal? - It's not like it adds surface area, only adds restriction of flow. bleh.

While it was open, I decided to do the silicone mod to the HK block described here:

More cutting!!

The holes on the mb tray are for the front panel connectors, 8pin power and the cpu backplate. Also, my original plan was to solder the on-board power/reset buttons to the back because they're going to be blocked by the top radiator&fans - thats why theres another random hole... I soon realized I couldn't even desolder the damned buttons. :eek:

I decided to have 2 intake fans on the bottom. Originally, I was going to mount a 120mm rad on the bottom left fan, but realized later than the mounting screws from the HK were like 2mm in the way - bah.

Very slick. Looks better than my attempt at WC my A05B. Can't wait to see the progress!

Very nice! I like it! I like your cuts into the case. I'll have to to that to my motherboard panel and maybe my spare top panel one day.

Dual rads are awesome. Did you buy the case used? It appears to be the old model.

Post it in the giant A05 thread as well

@mrmylanman - ty!
@Splare-Flair -
thanks hehe. I really wanted to have another 2 120 rads; one in the front exhaust , and one on the bottom intake, but it'd be a lot more work and I can't find anymore cheap HWLabs GTS 120's lol.
Yeah the case was bought used on this forum (I fail to remember who I bought it from). And the old model is just as good as the new in terms of modding :D
And that A05 thread is so legendary - I've referred to it countless times hehe. I'll post there when/if I reach the end of this build.

The EK FB x58 LE gave me quite a scare because I thought I was supposed to have 6 standoffs - but only the included 4 were needed. phew.

haha, I forgot the gpu in one pic, and the res in the other - oh well
erg... tubing this is going to be a major hassle, I have absolutely no idea how I'll do it.
and WOW the copper block sticks out like a sore thumb... I hope someone buys it on my FS thread so I can afford a nickel gpu block to match the monochrome theme here ;)

hpim1633f.jpg

Gee it looks pretty, but it's a no go.

Currently waiting on sleeving & heat shrink from ebay :eek:
Nope, I just couldn't afford mdpc-x ...minimum 15 euro order + 12 euro shipping = $30 versus ~$10 shipped from ebay lol.
Still waiting on the 3mm white LED's for the fans.

I'm also trying to decide on whether to use a 5.25 or 3.5 bay fan controller or some sort of power hub shoved inside my case. I'll also need a switch of some sort for the LED light strip I'll be making out of 5mm LED's that I already have.
Also thinking about getting an ssd to mount like the guy on this thread

Hmmmmmmmm

sounds like a first time dorm student. bare in mind, if you cannot put it on the floor due to space issues, there is always the wall and ceiling suspension. put that shit on a shelf or hang it from the ceiling. why take up desk space or floor space when, heat naturally rises anyway, you can just as easily put it in an obscure place that won't get stuff spilled on it?

What is that bracket you have attached to the 120mm fan that looks like it has ball joints to hold a pump??!!

@xjmtx
Yeahhh, idk I'll find a way to make it work.

@Splare-Flair
That's one of (UN)Design's old discontinued brackets
20100817195004445.jpg

Eh, no progress today

silly me, I didn't buy enough sleeving/heatshrink... more is on the way

but wow, I'm impressed with this cheap Techflex 'CleanCut' series. It's not nearly as good as mdpc-x , but it's a tight weave and doesn't bleed any color through.

that's basically how it's going to look

I took my WCed full tower to the dorms in my freshman year of college. Anyone that tells you there won't be enough room is lieing.

Sorry to be a latecomer... very nice looking build you've got going here. Mind if I ask what fans those are? I actually went and bought a CoolerMaster Sickleflow fan just because I liked how it looked... looks awfully similar to yours there.

Yup, that's exactly what I bought: CM Sickleflow. Also, looking back at what I posted, I did manage to change all the LED's on my fans to white ones. Though I dont have a picture of the fans in the dark =/

I'd like to see them with white LED's... looking forward to some pics if you can get some.

great fans for a great build :)
