Running into a problem

I have a Corsair 750D with a EK Rev 1 L240 kit. The rad is a EK-CoolStream PE 240 (Dual).

I was gonna order 2 x Noctua NF-A12x15 FLX but found out they are 15mm width!

That is a problem with the 30mm length screws I have. 30mm length by 3mm outer diameter threads x 8 screws, 1mm thick 8 washers.

From the rad fins to the rad threads is 8mm.

So, take 1mm from the washer, 1mm from the thickness of the case, makes the screw 28mm, take 8mm for the fins to rad threads, minues the 15mm fan leaves the screw 5mm to long!

I have no access to any washers.

My setup I wanted 1850 RPM 120mmx25mm noctua fans because the fans must pull through a demcifilter and push through a rad.

Thank goodness I caught this before ordering these fans.

Any suggestions?

Edit: I am sorry I didn't post in water cooling section, my bad!

Maybe someone could point me in the right direction on amazon for 8 of 6mm thick, ID 4mm, OD 10mm washers?

So your saying your screws are too long for fans to radiator? If your ordering fans they will come with proper screws or at least they should... you can still cut the screws I do it all the time at work...

If your just looking for washers have you checked your local Lowes or home Depot or whatever you have local

I believe so, the fans I was gonna order are Noctua NF-A12x15 FLX. http://noctua.at/en/products/fan/nf-a12x15-flx/specification It does indeed state fans crews but not the dimensions.

Lets just say I have no options except amazon.com, if the screws are

That's doesn't help :(.

This is what I am working with.

You are saying you cannot cut the screws?

And you cannot order from hardware stores online? Usually if you give the hardware store the dimensions you need, they can source and ship them to you.

I don't get what the problem is. You were going to order 15mm thick fans but wanted 25mm thick fans. THEN ORDER THE 25mm FANS! No need for extra washers, different screws, cutting screws or anything else.

Nope, I am dead broke, all my funds are in Amazon.

The problem is noctua does not make 1850RPM 120mmx25mm fans, only in 15mm thickness. Like I said, I am pulling through a demcifilter and pushing through a rad.

Here you go. The Gentle Typhoon fans are among the most highly rated fans for water cooling. They have good static pressure which is what you want for radiators and filters. Best of all, they are only $3 more than the Noctua 15mm fans that you were considering.

shit man, it would be like $2.23 at the hardware stores at most for the right screws. I'll paypal you $5 just to get the parts and bus fare if that helps man. instead of washers also you can use nuts that are a little thicker to fill the space gap.

I got it knocked down to 24mm which I think would work? The black washer and screw are original.

Innovation, haha.

I went into my scrap steralite LOL draws and found this!

Why are you still harping on the screws? Did you already buy the 15mm fans? If not, I would highly recommend that you don't! You will not be happy with the performance.

Why would I not be happy with them?

I have two 140mm noctua's that have sso2 bearings, that are 3 years old still going strong...

Where is your source where I'd not be happy.

That Fan is pwm.

Sorry, did not mean to imply that you would not be happy with Noctua fans. They make good fans! The point I'm trying to make is that 15mm fans do not have the static pressure needed for use with most radiators. Couple that with a filter and you will have very poor performance from a 15mm fan.

That Fan is pwm.

And?

Sweet, hope it works out well for you.

It is going to be fun.

I have to with water in the rad and tubes hooked up, align the 2 x fans along with the case mounting holes and rad. I need get my hands on painters tape. keep em in place temporarily. Remove the EK 120mm original fans, oil them and install them to bottom of the case, unmounting the water pump.

Tipping case over to uninstall the bottom fans. holding aligning the fans case mounting holes rad.

Fun fun fun...

Ahh I miss the days of making my own custom case mods and water cooling setups... Come to think of it, I still have a ton of old water cooling components and utilities that could find a new home heh. Not sure how much is usable today, certainly the tubing at least.
