could some one tell me what i can use to tell me if my drives are actually running at sata 300, and not 150? i am not sure, but i have a sneaky feeling that they are not running at spec :(

run HDTach. If burst speed is more than 150MiB/s then it's running at SATA 300 speeds. Otherwise the test is inconclusive.

You are unable to fill the bus of a SATA I, so SATA II is not too much of a benefit (except for burst speeds). HDTach I believe shows what kind of drives you have. From there you can look at the spec of the drives online.
