Running asynchronous memory speeds

If I run my FSB at 200mhz, and my memory at 83% of that(one of the numbers I can choose to run my memory bus speed at), are there any performance implications aside from the obvious fact that my memory bandwidth will be lower simply because the bus speed is lower? My current memory kinda sucks, so unless I wanna run timings like 8-3's, I have to run asynchronous for now.

Athlon XP, right?

Run 100% ALL THE TIME.
If your memory can't do a certain FSB speed, then keep the FSB lower and raise the multiplier (if you can)

My memory CAN do 200mhz, but I have to run REALLY ass timings to do it. My barton is multiplier locked unfortunately.

That didn't really answer my question though.

Timings matter a whole lot for games and regular apps, I'd say buy some new ram if you can.

I plan on it, but I can't afford it at the moment. I'm just wondering if I'm better off running my memory at 200mhz, but at crappy timings, or running it at 166, and with halfway decent timings(7-2's)

Well really it doesn´t matter so much. I got about the same performance running 193 FSB at a 6/6 ratio or 193/218 fsb mem so definiatly max out your CPU overclock and run your mem at 83 % or whatever. Just benchmark and see what works best for you.

It´s not very good bang for the buck getting some new memory so you can run sync 200 fsb. You won´t see much difference believe me.
