Can I run just a single x1950xtx Crossfire card, or does it need to be the non-Crossfire card?

I don't plan on running a Crossfire setup.

The x1950xtx Crossfire card is cheaper than the non-Crossfire.

Thx

Thx for the reply.

I wanted to upgrade my video card on my Dell Precision.

I plan on running Folding@Home, and wanted to try it using the ATI GPU.

I wouldn't get the X1950 at this point. The X1950 Crossfire Edition and X1950XTX are too damned expensive right now. The 8800GTS is priced similarly, and is FAR superior.

That was the conclusion I reached too, just have to install my new NB fan and OC my 165 while I wait for the Monitor and 8800 to arrive.

I can get the X1950XTX Crossfire for $299. Besides that, there are no DC applications that use the Nvidia GPU, yet.

Also I don't plan to use this particular computer for any real gaming, and so don't plan to upgrade to Vista on it.

I only plan to go w/Vista on my gaming computer. Other than for DX10, I don't see any reason to upgrade to Vista from XP.

With the 8800 series, I'll wait until the second generation of it, which will most likely be next fall. Guessing, Nvidia will probably call it the 8900. (7800 -> 7900). That, or an ATI, depending how good they are at the time.

X1900CF will work fine. I'm currently running on in my X2 3800 rig. Its pleasantly folding along for 2 weeks now.
