Running 4 monitors

Who here is running 4 monitors, and what video cards do you use?

I am feeling that 2 monitors just isnt enough. I want 4! GIVE ME FOUR! So I am in the market to run 4 monitors successfully without any conflict.

What do you guys think I should do? Go with just strictly nvidia products since their drivers will work well with each other? Does gaming get screwed at all with 4 monitors.... such as like not knowing what video card to use and stuff. Also, what does the display properties look like? "extend my other 2 monitors into this device"? lol

Anyway, let me know. Maybe i'll just build a computer with parts I have laying around. I'm mainly wanting to do this for stock trading (day trading) and because with my account for datafeed, I can only log in with one computer, so I dont want to build another computer and have that run dual also.

LET ME KNOW! :)

30 lashes for yelling.

like they say... If you're not enough without them, you'll never enough with them...

When dealing with multiple video cards, using only one companies cards and drivers is always simpler and less prone to break on you. Wierd things can happen sometimes with ATI and nVIdia drivers together.

Gaming just uses your primary monitor i believe. Display properties has a separate check box for every display device.

Nvidia based cards work nice in a multimonitor setup. I can do four but its alittle much for the desk space, 3 is what I like the best. As far as gaming you can get any nvida dualhead card to span 2 monitors as one, no luck with 3 or more. To run a game on 3 or more you can run it windowed across as many as you want.

How would this all play out with VirtualPC. 4 PC's on one system.

Is there a PCI version of the ATI 9200 or 9600 level board.... I know there is no 9700/9800 lvl PCI.

The true 2 ramdac of the 9700/9800 is nice, totaly seperate resolutions on each output.....X4 would be really interesting.

Matrox has some 4 monitor cards...like a variant of the G200 or something. Check the website.

For the love of god, don't buy 3 identical PCI tnt2 cards, TRUST me.

However, what I did is I bought an AGP dualhead gf4 mx and 2x pci tnt2 16mbs and its working like a charm!

Yeah but I wish I didn't have to pay to get it working ha!
Heh, it's not like a GF4 MX is that expensive :p

Still, it's always a good idea to make certain that a particular configuration works before trying. Thank you for saving me and others on this forum money and time =)

haha true, but the other thing is i wanted to be the first person ive ever heard of to use 4 video cards in a standard machine lol.

Pathetic, I know- but still!

It would have been interesting indeed to do such a thing (from a geek's perspective ;) ). Life's a b*tch, though.

At least you got a spare TNT2 card now =P

Enjoy your quadruple monitor setup!
