Rumors

Recently rumors have been swirling over this and if true could start a firestorm online after they are released.

What are ya'lls thoughts? True or Fud?

First off launch rumors are exactly what they always end up being "rumors". Secondly , even if that's true the Xbox One will scale it to 1080p just like the 360 and in the end most COD gamers won't be able to tell.

However if its true that it doesn't run at a native 1080p and the PS4 version does , it will be a pretty hard blow to the Xbox One's already steep asking price. Why would anyone , unless they must have Kinect 2.0 features for some reason , pay more money for a lesser experience especially if the competitors offering is $100 less with native 1080p for the most popular shooter?

But keep in mind that the Xbox is the premiere platform for COD , has been for years , do you really think that MS would let their first Xbox One COD game run at the same resolution as their last gen does with an upscaled non-native resolution? I would imagine that MS would even pay for IW to find some way to get it to run native at 1080p frankly. They've paid them in the past for an exclusive DLC lock , why not for assured 1080p native output of the game?

Ah, I dunno, rumors are rumors. If true, yeah, it'd probably create a bunch of ammunition for the Sony camp. With that said, is your normal average joe consumer going to notice the difference unless both versions are right in his face?

I agree with most everything other than this, I can definately tell the difference when something is scaled, Halo 4 or TLoU would look a thousand times better if they were true 1080p.

From my perspective, if this is true (large if) I would be more concerned about the lasting effects of third party cross platform games. If they simply can't get them at the same resolution and framerate it would damage the Xbox brand significantly.

I wasn't worried about my xbox one pre-order until now (if it's true). If they have trouble running cod @1080p that doesn't bode well for future games. Then again all the real talent has already left the CoD franchise and they haven't changed much in 5 years now?

I have both systems pre-ordered and PS4's launch lineup is looking pretty weak right now, but I'd hate to buy a few hundred dollars worth of games for a system (potentially the xbox one) that will fall behind its competitor after few months.

I'd imagine Major Nelson or some other MS rep will come out with a response to this rumor soon - it's too nasty to leave unchecked.

I don't think it's still news that games are going to look better and run at higher resolutions on PS4. It's significantly more powerful. If someone has decided to buy an Xbox One, they've already decided that having the best graphics is not the number 1 priority to them.

If someone really cares that much about the graphics they are going to buy it for PC so it doesnt really matter IMHO. Most console players could care less if its 720p or 1080p and most probably cant even tell them apart.

I don't care at all. For one when comes to CoD I'm going to play it on my PC. I could care less about the difference between graphics between the two consoles.

Im not buying a console because of its graphics. I think its going to be a non issue for most people.

I think the rumor is false, but I compltely agree with this.

Many console gamers don't have their TV and consoles properly configured to get real 1080p, and even the ones that do often have overscan or other scaling going on, or interpolation distortion or other distortion features enabled on their TV.

I have a PC connected to the same TV as my 360 and the difference between the scaled to 1080p 360 games and real 1080p PC games is night and day, but I have everything configured properly. So it would be a difference to me.
But if I do get the game it will be on PC anyways.

I think it's believable the xb1 only running 720p. Though I have greater doubts of the ps4 running 1080 with 60fps.

The PS4 version might not be native 1080p it seems as well.

Yoshida was asked if the PS4 version of Call Of Duty: Ghosts was native 1080p, to which he replied with simply "wait for Activision to confirm".

So until Activision confirms or deny's this , its purely a rumor.

During the Sony Brazil press conference, one of the PR guys confirmed COD Ghosts is 1080p on PS4.

And CBOAT confirmed COD Ghosts is 720p on Xone.

Are people honestly surprised ?

The Xbone is significantly underpowered compared to PS4. I expect the majority of third party games will run at higher native res on PS4. People better get used to it.

I doubt this rumor. I haven't seen anything except a marginally passable german shepherd with a GoPro that would say this is a more advanced engine.

If they ran 720p in BLOPS2, they'll easily run 1080p on both new consoles. COD is like the Madden franchise, incremental updates until year three or so.

If neither console can run a COD game at 1080p then this console generation is going to be woefully underpowered.

Yea I saw that, but I would not say it's a complete confirmation. For me it has to come from Activision or Infinity Ward for either platform.

It's certainly leaning more in favor of it being true though.

Vladracule would most certainly have a meltdown though. God it would be glorious.

It's using an old recycled engine, but I think the rumors are true. CBOAT said it's 720p. Good enough confirmation for me.

I bet they had a hard time optimizing for the Xbox's ESRAM, so the easiest solution was to drop the native resolution.

I'm sorry but I have a hard time believing this rumor. Until Acitivsion confirms 1080p for both consoles and not other entities then I won't be holding my breath.

Doesn't matter. Fucking someone's mom will be identical on 720p and 1080p.

Someone here needs to test black ops 2 on a similar power machine and see what the results are. Cod has never been very demanding, the new systems shouldnt have a big problem running it.

what is the fuss? cod ghosts is gonna look like ass on both systems

;)

Lots of denial.

I can't wait to see the official pixel count.

This right here is what im wondering, it really might make me wait before I buy a next gen system. if the xbox one can't run cod at 1080p that makes me think over the lifespan of the system's the ps4 will be the better buy. On cross platform games the ps4 should really shine

The fuss is that the more expensive platform it looks like an even worse ass.

The issue is the eSRAM, devs will have to find alternative rendering methods to achieve a result consistent with the actual muscle difference of the consoles.

DUDE! CLOUD PROCESSING!!!!!!!!@#$!@#%$#@$%!@
Damn right. Let's not forget how THE CLOUD can help us here. It's totally gonna be able to run at 4K res on the Xbox One because that's exactly how the cloud works. It's like a billion CPUs but the PS4 only has eight. I'm also gonna be able to look at my fantasy football scores in 4K resolution.

And still no confirmation from an actual person from Activision. Just a former editor from IGN (IGN being the most credible source of news and information ...except never).

I'll wait til confirmation before I start considering options.

Look out for the 12th, that is when the embargo lifts for the Xb1 version, until that i wouldn't count on noone from either MS nor Activision opening their pie holes :p

PC & PS4's embargoes should be done by the 5th.

Another confirmation, though not the one you want:
David Abrams ‏@CheapyD 17m
I’m not reviewing any Xbox One games so I will tell you right now, Ghosts on XB1 is indeed 720p vs PS4′s 1080p. Could that change? Maybe?

That would be important if verified, but at rumor stage idrc.

Arthur Gies from Polygon, huge MS fan, came out and answered David Abrams up there, confirming the 720p deal, so honestly, not so much a rumor at this point in time.

Arthur Gies ‏@aegies 1h
@CheapyD theoretically something that could be fixed later, but doubtful it will.

In any case, the resolution is the least of the problems at the moment, as the latest rumor is that at least one console has troubles with multiplayer.

Not like 1080p is going to make COD any better though.

Couldn't care less about COD. But this "rumor" indicates how next gen multiplatform console games will likely stack up to each other. 1080p vs 720p is a pretty stark difference. And 720p is even more damning of the Xbone's weak hw, considering COD Ghosts isn't exactly a graphics powerhouse.

Is that coming from CBOAT ?

I've also read suggestions that MS's launch hw may have a lot of reliability problems again.
