Hi guy, I've been lurking here for a while, reading threads and stuff. Strangely I was content with that for a long time (guess you guys are interesting :) )

However, I've recently stumbled upon a conundrum involving Emulation. The thing is, I don't know the forum rules for talking about this stuff as many forums are quite touchy and will ban you for saying anything.

Now I read people talking about emulation and emulators (mainly for snes,nes) on this forum but I've never read a thread with in depth discussion of where to get them, troubleshooting, compatability, etc.

Since I like this forum so much, and would like to begin activly posting, I don't want to be banned immediatly for saying something dumb. The site FAQ says we can't talk about illegal activities and clearly this involves piracy.

So could someone tell me where "the line" is? What we can, and can't speak about?

In short: Emulation programs that don't contain proprietary code are fine to discuss. You can talk about all aspects of them and where to get them.

Roms are different. Seeing as there are only one or two legitimate sources to obtain roms, it's best not to mention them at all. Be careful how you phrase any posts regarding rom backups.

Programs good. Roms bad. Pretty simple really.
