router that wont crap out at-all with torrent downloading?

can be a used cisco off ebay
*nix
ddwrt
standard routers
anything?

what do you reccomend?

Try a Linksys WRT300n or a Netgear WPN824 Rangemax

The WRT300n has gigabit lan, which is nice, it also supports N, G, and B wireless.
The WPN824 only has 10/100 but handles large amounts of network traffic better than any home router I've seen.

But if you want to get something rock solid that will blow the doors off of any router you can purchase for less than $5,000.00...build yourself a *nix distro router..such as IPCop, Endian, Untangle, m0n0wall, smoothwall, pfsense, etc. Take an upper P3 or higher, 512 megs of RAM, pair of good NICs.....presto!

^ What he said. They're probably crapping out on your torrents because of lack of memory, which even one of the better SOHO models may well suffer from.
Building your own and sticking 256 in there is definately not going to have that problem.
 
Agreed. This is a very high-performance router that should do fine without spending ridiculous amounts of money for enterprise stuff.
