router resets randomly

ok i gotta D-Link DI-604 wired router.
No matter what im doing my router will just reset randomly
Sometimes the lights will flash, other times, i just lose inet connection.
I have to just unplug it and plug it back in after about 5 seconds and its all good.
Mainly it does it when i dl'ing or ul'ing.
Could this be overheating?

Ive--- Updated firmware; reseted thru the little button; tried only main pc with no others connected; different wires; different pc by itself.

Any help?
 
could be, is it warm on the top? Also are you covering any of the vent holes with anything?
 
nah its pretty much in the open...and just a tad warm, nuthing more than usual
ive thought about taking the cover off to see if that fixes it
 
I have a DLink DI-784 that overheats. If I remove the top cover and stand it on end, it works perfectly fine.... been running that way since July. The dumbasses at DLink tech support told me I can return it for repair/replacement if it locks up more than once per day (like they thought locking up once per day is acceptable. WTF?).
 
well
i opened it up and let it work...and it locked up after like 20 mins
might try a little fan on the heatsink :)
 
you didnt just recoomend linksys did ya.......................

so it shit on me last night, wont do anything now...i ordering a netgear 108g

I've never had a LinkSys router break or go bad and it receives the least number of complaints where I work. I hear more people bitching about D-Link and Netgear than LinkSys.
