ok i have my cable going into my linksys wireless router. ironically i cant get wireless into my room, so that defeats the purpose of the wireless router, but i can run cat 5. so i did. well i am actaully. but my question is will the two play together well. i only ask because there is a computer on the linksys hub that needs to be backed up to a server on my dell switch. will the computer on the linksys be able to see the server or am i going to have to do magic here.

as for operating system on server. dont know yet, havent decided to install one yet.
thanks guys and gals

That should not be a problem at all. You may need to use a crossover cable between the switches but other than that it is a very basic setup.

Many, if not all of Dell's newer switches have auto MDI/MDI-X negotiation, which eliminates the need for a crossover.:)
