Router bit the dust?

I just got home from vacation and my router more or less seems dead. Its a basic D-Link 4 port router and when I plug it into the power strip nothing happens. No lights turn on like normally it just sits there blank. Any ideas or should I just trash it?
 
One possibility is that the "wall wart" or DC power supply is the problem. If you have or have a buddy with a VOM (volt-ohm meter) I'd make sure the W.W. is putting out the voltage it's supposed to. If it's good......IMHO the router's probably toast.

Also, try another AC outlet. I know, but just try it.......:rolleyes:

The power strip is running everything else fine besides the router, including monitor, printer, computer, modem, etc. Tried it in a few ports too and nothing, probably just gonna pick up a new one on newegg.

DLink or Linksys? ;)
 
CAT5 around here.....I've had a Linksys BEFSR-41 for a couple of years and it's been flawless. Never even upgraded the firmware....DNS served a couple of small LAN's around here, and the four family PC's get to the internet without issue. I'd buy another, tomorrow.

Seriously, take the wall wart to your local Rat Shack and ask them to check it. They can probably sell you a replecement if it's toasted. I've seen lots more DOA WW's than the hardware they plug into.....

We use Dlink DI-624+'s at work and I have a Linksys BEFSR-41 at home that has worked for years.
I prefer Linksys. I've had far less problems with their firmware.
