Rosewill Green Series

Yeah, $35 more when my budget is already stretched super thin... Guess I'll have to take my chances.

It's $15 more, not $35 more. And considering you're already buying a pair of 5770s which isn't exactly cheap, you can probably manage an extra $15 to go with a better PSU.

There is a coupon out that makes the PS $49.99. I don't know how you missed it.

$20 off w/ promo code EMCMNLW45, ends 12/14

And I'm only getting one 5770 now, another later. Thanks for your opinion. No need to be brash.

I see. I suppose in that case it pays to go with the Rosewill, although I still don't recommend it for a Crossfire setup.

I don't know what the difference, if there is any, between that PS and this Rosewill, but Gabe at Hardware Secrets gave it a pretty good review, particularly in view of its $70 price.

My only real concern is that based on customer reviews, Rosewill PS's appear to have a higher than average number of DOA and infant mortality PS's.

i guess why some people are brash is we see this happen alot. they blow there wad on everything but when it comes to a decent psu model they go cheap/crappy route. psu is an important choice for obvious reasons. it seems a quality psu is always under estimated and thought of as not as important as other pc components. not trying to put words into zeros mouth or anything.

Rosewill has some good items. SOME good items, the vast majority of their stuff is sub-par junk. They are a house brand so they just slap their name on another vendors product, which is fine if your buyers are getting quality products to represent the name. The problem is I have bought about 5 Rosewill products in the last 5 years and every single one has left me with the feeling I should have bought something else. I bought a case that was pretty cheap, but built even cheaper than I paid for it. I got a toolkit for pretty cheap with a bundle, and a few other items. I have had buyers remorse for EVERY single thing I have bought that has the Rosewill brand on it, they just aren't a high quality brand, they are a low-end, budget, cheap, get-it-done until you can buy something better brand IMO.

Having said all that I would never buy a PSU from them. I might buy a HDMI cable, or a cheap USB drive, but never anything that I didn't plan on replacing with something better in the (possibly very near) future. That $50 dollar PSU might work just fine for you but the LAST thing you want to skimp on is your PSU.

As said Rosewill has PSUs from a lot of different manufacturers, with wildly varying quality. In general it is recommended to stay away from Rosewill PSUs.

Of course, we can only give advice, it's your expensive hardware you're gambling with :)

That particular model is a decent ATNG unit. It's not the best, but it should do the job. Hence why I recommend something else, but if that's not an option this unit should be alright.

Thanks guys. I normally don't skimp on the PSU. In fact, I didn't order a new one for my new system, because I have an older Earthwatts 550 that I like. However, when transferring my old parts into my wifes computer, her power supply went out, so I had to order one. I needed something cheap enough to not break the budget but something I could upgrade my system with while transferring my old PSU to her computer... I have plans to get another 5770 in February or so...
