Grabbed my son's PC for repair after he reported it was shutting down every 15 min with BSOD while gaming, would stay up for net browsing. Pulled his old 5870, replaced with 4850 known good to test. BSOD.
Yes.......I know I should have done the CPU cooler first but I just had to know best

Pulled the stock cooler repasted and got shut down maybe once an hour. Then I went nuts and replaced the 1K Rosewill with a duplicate I had on the shelf and what the hell threw in a 6970 I got in trade.
Now the unit runs perfectly. My problem is I did too much at once and don't know what to do about testing the pwr supply. The voltages test OK on the old power supply and I wanted to use it on a plain vanilla Intel Z87 3258 build with another 6970 from the dusty archives.
Any suggestions on the best way to test?
