I am wiring up my room, and I rembered seeing some people with celling trim with LED or CCFLs mounted on top. I am thinking of doing something like that. How can I power LEDs or CCFLs off a normal outlet?
 
ya do know that they sell real CCFLs up at home depot and whatnot...get a real UV bulb.....
 
You'll have to build/buy a circuit to convert the 120VAC to something DC that the LEDs can use. You can find a very nice example right here.

 
I'd just go to Radio Shack and buy a 12V wall wart. Get the highest mV you can find.

Or just rape an old toy or phone for one. 10VDC - 15VDC should work fine.

Or you could just use a spare PSU. You can typically hang three LEDs in series off of 12 volts, and at 25 mA per string, that's 120 LEDs per amp of 12V current capacity.

 
I don't think I have any extra PSU's I think I'll order a cheap one and do that. Thanks.
