Probably not worth picking up. There are tons of reports of the PC version not coming with the CD key required to active the game and Ubisoft support taking days, or even weeks, to actually hand out a key. This is a well known problem.

I've read that, but if I buy it, I'm really not going to die if It takes a few weeks to get a key. The alternative is wait for it to go on sale on Steam for 10 bucks then spend 30 or 40 bucks on a cable.

Damn, thanks for the heads up! About $30 USD with shipping & tax to Canada, but way less than the $74 CAD I paid on amazon.CA yesterday, and I thought THAT was good deal. Cancelled and re-ordered, cuz I'm cheap like that. :hungover:

As OP said, the cable itself is twice the price, and you'll likely get a code eventually
If you're looking to get this, you really have no better options, it's just a lot cheaper now.

Usually a sign that the 2018 version is around the corner.

I'm just hoping it's decent for learning a bit of guitar (literally never played). I'm a bit worried since I saw something in a review about Iron Maiden and Satriani which has to be about 10 years beyond my skills ;)

That sucks about the CD Key issues. I bought the original via amazon, and the 2014 edition via steam sale since I already had the cable.

As far as the software itself, really like it, as well as the original Rocksmith. Song selections are good enough. The difficulty scales depending on how well you are performing all the notes, and I find it a great tool to use as a refresher whenever I pick back up my guitar and need to get my wrist in shape. Also, if I'm not mistaken there's a decent community who translate some other popular/obscure songs from tablature, but they usually require one or two DLC tunes for whatever reason I forgot.

It's really nice tool, I have played instruments before 10+ years experience but never got too far with guitar/bass, within a month I surpassed years of picking up a guitar and messing around. I could actually play a few harder songs near perfect, this was on bass though. I think it's a great idea, and works pretty well.

As mentioned the online community is awesome for pc, can get all kinds of custom songs that aren't available.

On a side note, this cable will work for Xbox and ps4

And yes, Iron Maiden, Satriani, Eric Johnson, Santana, list goes on... Are hard as hell to play... that's why you play bass, unless we're talking about Duran Duran, Yes, Jamiroquai etc etc, hahah

I've been learning guitar for about a year now. The best advice I can give you is to go take some lessons to at least learn the fundamentals. Rocksmith is pretty cool, and I think it definitely helps, but I also think that if I would have started only with the game, I likely would have picked up a lot of bad habits simply due to not knowing anything.

Very true, especially if no previous experience.. , and once those habits start... They're hard to break :)

The code was included when I bought during the previous sale. The reports are old and incorrect. If you want this game you will not be disappointed

Edit: Sales already over. Sorry for bumping old thread
