I have an ASUS P5K-VM (G31 chipset) motherboard. Its not EFI so I think the on board drive limit is 2TB. Running W7Prox64

I will be adding a rocketraid 2300 to the system. Can I add 3TB drives to it or am i still limited to 2TB?

I was checking online and wasnt sure what it meant. The specs on http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/cs-series_rr2300.htm was showing this bullet point:

64bit LBA support greater than 2TB per volume


Anyone clarify?

thanks for the reply. seems the card can handle it.

i hope that the motherboard bios wont prevent it from working with 3tb drives though. if its not booting off it and is on the rr card, i am hoping it will be ok. I assume it should as EFI was not out in 2007, was it?
 
As long as you use W7 Pro x64, don't boot off of it, and use GPT instead of MBR, it should work.
 
You don't need the card. 3TB drives work fine on hardware way older than that, you just can't boot from them.
 
hmmm wow didnt know that. i will have an ssd boot drive anyways. i thought without efi it wouldnt even recognize more that 2 (2.2) TB. If it can, thats awesome. The 3TB can go to the onboard controller and put the 2TB drives on the 2300.
