Rocketfish Mesh Mod - any ideas?

I want to replace the front bay covers of my lian li w/ some mesh of some sort to get some decent air flow over my ram. I'd put a ram cooler on there, but there's no room on my IP35 between my Scythe Infinity and my ram (the modules butt right up against the HS).

I was thinking of drilling out my stock covers but that would take a hella long time to do by hand (even w/ the drill press at work).

Does anyone know where I could possibly buy some aluminum sheet that's been drilled out mesh style? I don't really want to use wire mesh since it'd look tacky and clash with the bottom mesh on the case.

Oh yeah, and I'm too cheap to pay $6 a pop for the lian li drive bay covers, so I was hoping for a cheaper solution. If it comes to that, I'll just drill them out or maybe spend $35 on new bay covers, but I feel like there has to be a cheaper solution.
 
still have one of those scythe kama bay, they are very nice and can also be flipped 90 degrees to cool hard drives, etc
 
I just drilled 3 of the bay doors full of 1/4" holes didn't take that long, and after filing and a thin coat of black paint they look great.
 
wire mesh is easy to come by...you can buy a sheet of it at lowes or home depot

Yes, but wire mesh is exactly what he doesn't want. I've been through this search before, and it's very hard to find what you want. It took hours of looking through home depot just to find some wire mesh with small enough holes, because most of what they carry is just chikenwire. Finding some perforated metal like in hex or holes was impossible.

Look through mcmaster.com, they are a good company that has what you're looking for. I'm not sure how much it will cost though.
 
It sort of sounds like you are looking for AC Ryan MeshxPanels or Round Hole Perforated sheets like McMaster-Carr has. You can get them in various hole diameters too.
 
I was looking on McMaster-Carr and couldn't find what I wanted. I'll give it another go. I forgot about AC Ryan, I'll check there too, they usually have some good modding supplies.
 
you can also look at Amaco Molding Mesh... not sure if it would be rigid enough but its for making sculpture frames, could be what you are looking for and quite cheap i might add
 
damn, that stuff at McMaster is really expensive, I might just suck it up and drill them out. If I tape both sides, I shouldn't have to repaint right?

You didn't read my initial post did you....:rolleyes: And they're not $10, they're about $6 each + SH. I could get 5 of them for around $35 but that's kinda ridiculous. That's a lot to spend on some perforated metal.
 
The site shows "$9.95", which seems an awful lot closer to $10 than $6 to me.
