Well , I work at a local Best buy here myself and while I was unloading the truck this evening we received a new product.... a Rocketfish all-aluminum computer case.

Interested as I always am with new random computer parts I stop working and rushed to look up employee price.... :)

Well, to my amazement the rocketfish computer case is created by Lian Li. I did not find total model specs on it but it does look like a pretty nice and overall offical Lian Li rebadged as a best buy branded rocketfish case.

Also their mousepad is made by another big name company in the business but the name is not coming to me right now.

you need to get the model number/sku so i can get it in at my store(Damn you big stores).

Big store ... ha ... :)

When I get back monday I will get it (nice having weekends off)

I work at a best buy also! We just got 2 of them in but I didn't look up employee price! they are some pretty decent looking cases though! The boxes are huge! So there either packaged really good or they are some big cases!

I saw this today also. I am curious to see if it is the same as another of there cases or what is different about it.

looking at the pad it looks like the razer xact mat, rebadged. speed and control sides, feet to keep it still, slight cut out on the bottom... sounds like a good bet.

Yea , employee discount is good on the mouse pad :)

The case is about 200 bucks retail and well employee is "pretty good" , dont want to list it but well... it is not like half price or anything... but close :)

I could not find the exact lian li model for it but it has lower power supply placement , 120mm front fan , lower hard drive placement facing out of the case. 120mm rear fan , and some other things (just woke up and remembering whatever I can)

I will try and take box pictures monday ... not going to buy it just yet... had some other stuff to buy this week (like the orange box and a few others)

I went to see if my local best buy had this... they didn't.. I still want to know what this thing looks like :)

Well , tomorrow I will try and get some pics up in the morning/afternoon so everyone can see it.

Just an fyi about the mousepad. I have both the exact mat and the rocketfish pad. They are definitely not the same. In fact I would put the rocketfish above the razer. While they both have control and speed sides, the rocketfish has a better feel and has bigger feet on each corner. Both have metal cores, but the razer isn't *quite* flat.

Well , installing my new little toy (pinnacle's new HD tuner card) and will upload pictures too.

Well , I took the main case image at a weird angle so it does not look like that :)

Yea , I did it at a weird angle and that came out like that :(

Was 7am and got very little sleep last 2 nights... brain was kinda like .... ZZZZZ

Interesting, is the card reader included?
I think i will stick with my Antec 900, which at employee is probably cheaper.

I dont think the card reader is included ... mainly because it looks like the dynex one I have in my machine right now :)

Yea , I know it is not as good as the 900's employee cost but this does look like it could be a good case in general.

Dynex is also a best buy brand :)

Anyways, you won't get me to spend near 200 for that case, a P180/2 is less than that ant at least you will know what you get. The $200 price is Lian-Li/Silverstone territory... so I'd much rather get a "real" Lian-Li.

Is the case on display at Bestbuys though? I'd love to take a look at a Lian Li in RL.

No, BestBuy does not display computer components.

You can always buy and return if you dont' like. One thing I never understood about best buy... why they don't have a hardware display shelf....

That's an easy one...theft.
My BestBuy's shrink issues in those aisles are the worst. Thumb drives, networking etc... People steal the fans out of the cases at the local Microcenter. So it's just not worth it.

I was in a best buy earlier today and figured I'd check this case out. There wasn't one out of the box obviously, but from looking at the box it looked like a pretty nice case.

That's an easy one... security cable.

Saw one of these the other day at the local BB and thought "nice looking case. who the hell wants their case to say "rocketfish" on it?"

That's an easy one... security cable.

Ya but then you would have to think about all the money they would have to spend on all that when there way is working just fine, BB is not for enthusist, its for people that heard they need something for there pc and they go out and buy the most expensive one, or the one with the most appealing box.

I personally hate Best Buy.

I asked a guy if they had a heatsink for a socket A processor. The idiot tried to sell me an Antec spot cooler.

And they overcharge for damn cables. They want $15 for a sata cable, thats made in china.

I work for BB (and yes we kinda suck for PC stuff) but oh well. When comparing the 900 to this rocketfish case, I think I may switch to the rocketfish. I have the 900, and it sounds like an airplane taking off. Plus the rocketfish is aluminum, so it does better with heat if I'm not mistaken. Plus I'm sure its quieter. Also, being that its aluminum, that makes it heaps lighter. I think I may give it a try on my next paycheck.

Cheers

Also -

for all you BB employees, if you type this sku into RSS and look at the manufacturer, it says LIAN-LI Industries :)

Yeah I would like to know this too and is the motherboard tray removable?

by looking at the pictures: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1255915

Looks like the emblem is cut-in. the front door panel. As for the removable motherboard tray, If you consider the side door removable, than sure...but can't confirm that, it may just be the chassis. Removable motherboard tray is still a luxury for other brands ;)
