Rocketfish 700w PSU

In otherwords, they don't care.

True. And it's even worse up at Future Shop in Canada. Dynex/Rocketfish is the ONLY brand they sell because they realize they make 50%+ margins and think that by bringing in other brands they're just going to take sales away from their own brand and make less margin.

Best Buy also sells Antec Power Supplies so if I desparately needed a PSU last minute I would def get an Antec.

Yeah, yeah. And some times they even have decent sales, but that's not the point. They got a solid maker for their Rocketfish case (Lian Li), they even have some decent Insignia TV's these days. Why take a 550w rated product, stamp it with a big 700 sticker, and sell it at a 700 watt price, and still call it a "value" brand for customers. Hogwash.

I'm just waiting for someone's computer to blow up, lose a bunch of work data, sue for a bunch of money and win......

Hummm I could do that... but then I should not have posted this ;)

Kay, so has there ever been a review of the 700w MODULAR version? Friend just picked one up and was considering one myself (Staff purchase price is 70) so it's not at all a bad deal for a 700w PSU, if it IS a 700w PSU ;)

Why bother cheaping it out? With the corsair 650 watt PSU being just $30 more (Only $10 more if you count MIR) its pretty hard to justify going with an unkown PSU that is likely shit.

Because it's NOT a 700w PSU. It's a 550 watt Huntkey. It's a good 550 watt modular PSU. Quiet, nice big pretty blue LED fan, too. I recommend this one:

I've seen it on sale many times for $89-$99 with free shipping. I snagged it for $139 a long time ago, and received my $40 mail in rebate making it $99 shipped. Fantastic PSU. Modular, good looking, quiet, and solid as all heck. I pull a lot of power through it with some monster overclocks and mean stress testing and it does extremely well. Had it for over a year with zero problems and nothing but praise, so far. Others share similar good reviews.

If you're happy with a $70 PSU, but have to have modular, get this one:

If you don't need modular, the 610w PC Power & Cooling is on sale for $70 minus a $20 rebate.

If you just want to buy one at a store and want convenience, the RF one is fine, just know you're getting a 550 watt unit.

Sirkonan why would you suggest that antec when the corsair units can be had cheaper?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005 650 watt $99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006 750 watt $119

Zeros suggestions are solid but with those 2 corsairs being on sale it pretty much trumps that whole list.

Because he was talking about modular units, as was I. In terms of standard units, this PCP&C PSU is a better deal than any of those Corsairs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341011

That's the 750 watt. Great buy after rebate. I suggested this one also:

Only $50 after rebate. I know it's only 500 watts, but I can almost guarantee that it will put out every watt a 550w Huntkey can put out. Sorry about the ModXtream suggestion. I see your link there. I can vouch for the Antec modular PSUs. And if you can get a Silverstone decathlon or striker series modular PSU at a good sale price, those are really nice, too. I've seen the 700w and 750w models for $99 with free shipping.

Yea he just grabbed the Modular 700w because it was local (We work there, so obviously local ;) No shipping, instant gratification) to go with his new video card.

Thanks for the suggestions though :D Our PSU forums rock.
