Hello,

Quick question here.

A year ago I took off my stock heatsink and put on an Artic Cooler. I had a chance to sell the cooler and did so. Thus, I just put the stock cooler back on with some Artic Silver. Unfortunately, the card (after about 6 months of steady operation) died on me without rhyme or reason (no crazy overclocks here). I'm wondering if Ati will honour their RMA if I send it in with the stock heatsink with Artic Silver under the cooler. Or am I borked? Thanks.

They more than likely will not honor the RMA since it is going to be very clear the moment they see the AS5 on it that you tampered with the card. Its the price you pay to play, dont pass it on to the rest of us with dishonest RMA's. You voided the warrenty when you swapped the cooler in the first place.

Clean all of the Artic Silver off of your card, use some type of compound that is closest to the orginal and reattach the orginal headsink.

If you put on a better headsink and it didn't fail, but the card did I wouldn't feel bad at all about returning it. It is a defective card.

Now if you volt modded it and had it highly overclocked, that is a different story as far as it is right to request a RMA..
