RMA'ing a 9700Pro

I'm not going to defend you, this whole discussion is absurd.

However, for you idiots who think that something like this will make the prices go up for everyone else, get a fucking clue. Costs figure in only anecdotally to pricing in a field like this.

Graphics card manufacturers use basic market knowledge to determine the highest possible price that their items will sell at, and price them there. The variable is not the price of the card, it's the size of the profit margins, which can have a marginal effect on pricing in extreme circumstances. You idiots have no clue what you're talking about.

The size of the profit margin between the manufacture and wholesale stages is not subject to large variations, and it is not very likely that ATi or nVidia would accept a decrease in those margins due to an increasing number of punks RMAing cards they have destroyed on purpose.

And btw watch your language, does your mother know you're posting here?
 
Yeah, I don't agree with RMA'ing, but I think most people forget that we are the minority of computer users out there. And the cards don't cose the manufactures that much to make. So they are not going to take a hit because roughly 10% of their demographic is RMA'ing their cards. My 2 cents
