Okay I just got a viewsonic KB from newegg on 6/14. Last night it STOPed working, no its not my comp/usb/etc anything else. My question, should I call newegg and try to RMA it (I dont have any of the packaging) or should I order a new one today and RMA that one once it gets here (b/c then Ill have all the packaging). Its only a $30 problems so no worries just a pita (pain in the ass).

Newegg is positively wonderful with their RMAs. They have this huge disclaimer that almost scares you away, but, I have almost only heard good things. In all the time I've used it, I only saw one person complain about getting a messed up RMA. (I believe they posted in this particular forum too.) Worst case scenario, they don't accept and send the thing back. You said you intended to call, so if you speak with a real human, then you can explain about the lack of packaging and they might consider it. If it's within the warantee period, you probably are completly set anyway.

unfortunately they are closed today,

He's good at that. All he did to my big problem that's driving me crazy, cost me a lot of money, and leaves me currently with no real pc is say "you're post is too long." Sheesh. So don't complain about this one.

The RMA system is completely automated, you don't have to wait for them to open. You login to the site with the ID you used to buy the stuff, choose My Account and Return RMA Request. You then choose what you want to RMA from their list of all the stuff you have bought from them (very nice feature) and send it off. The rest is done via e-mail. I have RMA's several things back to them over the years I have been buying, and I've never been turned down or had a hassle.

hey thanks for the info, whats ur opinion about the lack of packaging? If they do accept it, will they just refund the money to my cc? Should I wait to order a new one?
