Rivets in cases

i have been wanting to paint a case and i was curious to know if there is a standard size of rivets for computer cases. or will i have to measure the rivets and how i would do that after they have been drilled? I was also curious to know what kind of tools i would need to put the rivets back in.

What I do is drill out the rivet by using a drill bit to remove it's head. I then take my set of drill bits and find the one that fits the hole and buy the rivets based on the size of the drill bit.

As for tools to put rivets in your use a rivet gun. They make all kinds but a simple hand held squeeze style should get the job done. You just squeeze the handle a few times crimping the rivet and cutting the excess off at the same time.

Use 1/8" drill bit to drill out the rivets and replace them with 1/8" diameter x 1/8" grip, blind rivets. I prefer aluminum mandrel / aluminum shaft rivets. If you live near Lowe's / Home Depot they sell Arrow rivets, UPC code 079055008200. They also sell rivet guns there as well.

Also, look over your entire case... it's possible that you will have some countersunk rivets. If so, it'll look better if you replace them with the same, countersunk rivets. You can get those at McMaster.
