RivaTuner tweaks? How do Increase PPD? I have been looking at the 'net and I'm a little stumped. I'm pulling 3400ppd out of a 8800gts 320mb. Can I safely get to 4000ppd?

You see the sliders in the overclocking settings, move it all to the right as far it can go and press apply or save. Watch your card dance in fire cooking the WUs.

Do not attempt this, if you do I am not liable.
 
You should be able to get 4k safely. If you don't have a copy of GPU-Z, get one from here.
I use this to verify what my stock clocks are and my OC plus it has temps and bios info.

Once you know what your stock settings are, make sure the GPU client isn't running and open Rivatuner. There's an arrow that says "customize" under "driver settings".clik that arrow and chose the pic of the card (driver level settings). On the overclock tab, check the box to enable driver level OC. If your "stock clocks" look right AND it gives a pop up asking to reboot (only does this the first time) so it can "detect" your clocks, you can just go ahead and force it to accept the clocks that are there if they agree with GPU-Z stock clocks. Uncheck the box for "link clocks" and adjust your shader up some. (If stock is around 1600 you should be able to go to between 1700-1800 without problem) Then clik apply and recheck GPU-Z to see if it took.

I'd also go to the fan tab and raise your fan to around 50%. Most cards are set/locked at about 30% it seems.

If that all works you can test it on a WU (it'll error pretty quick if you get too aggressive) and check your PPD after 5-10 steps to see if they're going up. The shader clock won't raise your temps much, but check them once or twice anyway. you can add a "little" Core overclock and it helps sometimes too.

When you have it all set to your satisfaction in Rivatuner, there's a checkbox on both tabs to apply those settings when windows starts.

Nice. You should be fine at that and looking at your stock numbers, your shaders will probably be good for somewhere between 1300-1400 if you don't go higher on the core....

You don't have to overclock the memory. It yields almost no performance gain in FAH. On top of that it outputs more heat for no gain. Shader and GPU are the most important. Shader being the most important of all.
 
fan is set at 60% default (left it there) and slowly working up the shaders (after 10 steps)..
I will probably stop at this level, I'm happy with it. 550/1320/802
