Rivatuner fan control issue

I notice after a couple hours of gaming that my fan duty cycle and RPM will kind of switch. For example, I will set the fan to 35% but it's actually spinning at ~3840rpm. The higher I set the duty cycle, the lower the rpm gets and vice versa. Only a restart seems to fix this. I have a 4870x2 if that helps. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Are you using manual or automatic control on the fan?

Do you have any problem with abandoning RivaTuner and just using EVGA Precision???

It's so much easier it's not worth dicking around with RT anymore unless you enjoy self-punishment.

The ribbel article is excellent, and I used to use RT all the time; but EVGA Precision (made by unwinder, the Riva guy) is so much easier and serves the purpose for 90% of users.................give it a try.
