Apparently riva tuner crashed while i was away and the fan stopped .... when i got near the pc i heard some sort of alarm and choking lol :) its still alive tho ... :p

just wanned to share with ya :D

oh and thats not even the max clock i usualy use ... i wonder what would happen then :rolleyes:
 
I updated to Catalyst 8.5 yesterday (unsuccessfully 1st time but thats not another issue), and Rivatuner reverted to default settings. It caused a similar issue where my fan wasnt blowing out enough hot air. Forced it back to 53% fixed and my temps went from 80C to 60C in a few minutes.
 
Yea, I run my 3870x2 at 40%. idles around 45, load in TF2 is about 65, in crysis about 75-80.

The 3870 has a really good cooler, it's just the default fan profile that's messed up.
