I took the computer into the shop for a RAM upgrade (I did DIY but that story is on another thread)

RAM is working fine, but now according to ESET scanner I now have a Ripper/Boot Virus that cannot be cleaned.

It seems like I'll have to re-install my whole system... But I don't want to loose all of the stuff on my HD.

What would you do?

According to ESET the virus is located in the MBR sector of the disk and cannot be cleaned.

It looks like the place that installed the memory booted up the system off of an infected USB, not sure if that will cause long term problems.

I was thinking of backing up everything on an extra harddrive I have on the bookshelf, but a little worried that it will get infected too.
