Well long and sad story short, my Creative Labs S750 amp overheated and/or blew out. (Not sure exactly which, did smell a slight burning smell a little before I was able to pinpoint it to the Sub but it was already too late.) :(

As of now, the control pod and satellites seem to work a lower volume with the bass setting completely lowered, but the subwoofer response is completely dead. Once the volume is turned up to a moderate level requiring some bass response, the center channel speaker starts crackling out.

I've searched for a few hours looking for a fix but havent found much luck nor an easy solution that doesn't require a electronic engineering degree.

Now, after looking around to desperately replace my lack of surround, I was able to pick up a used Klipsch Promedia 5.1 set for pretty cheap.

My question is, would I be able to use the Gigaworks satellites (rated 70W) in conjunction with the Klipsch (their satellites are rated 60W) Amp/Sub unit without any harmful effects?

I've tried to find the Ohm rating for both brands but was unsuccessful. Any information or help would be highly appreciated, thanks in advanced.

IIRC, the creative sats are 8 ohm and the promedia's are 6 ohm.

You shouldn't have any issues swapping it out. Keep in mind that the PM 5.1 has reliability issues with the amp. So I wouldn't be surprised if you run into the same sort of problem as you did with the Gigaworks.

Thanks for the quick reply,

I was surprised and found it odd that the Klipsch satellites do not have a screw-hole for wall mounting or stand mounting when this is a "surround sound" package.

Looks like ill be running the Creative Labs in the rears and Promedias the fronts. I've read about the unreliability and overheating issue these BASH amps suffer from so ill try to avoid extended use and keep volume within reasonable levels.

Correct my if I'm wrong but I think Klipsch still offers out-of-warranty service(for a fee) for these units as they are fully aware of the problems - unlike Creative users who are pretty much SOL if you are out of warranty.

(Hopefully I'd have enough saved up
for a decent, proper HT component setup before these go out on me :p )

the fee to replace the klipsch amp is insane, i want to say at least $150 by the time they repair and ship, totally not worth it
