Any tips for cleaning the new parts I should get very soon?

I read about 50:50 Vinegar and Distilled water but I assume thats for extreme cases when you have build up. I think I will be fine with just flushing it with distilled water, but asking to be sure. Which leads me to my next question, the best way to do this, normally I'd put something under that tap and let it run, but since that is a big no no, I'm not sure how to flush properly with a gallon jug of distilled water. Should I use like a syringe/turkey baster or something into each part individually, or connect tubes and fill it like a leak test and then drain? Or should I just build it and leak test with distilled and see what happens? Do you bother using the coolant+water mixture for leak testing. I would assume you'd want to just to see the colored water if there is a leak somewhere, it will be easier to tell.

Anyways, thanks for the tips and infos as always. Will try to get this thing running soon.

One thing I didn't get completely though is when they talk about water blocks and the copper base. He mentions not to submerge the whole copper base thing in vinegar? Why not? Do I need to go through this hassle with a storm and Maze4 GPU block anyway? I can understand the radiator and it's not to bad as it just requires filling and rinsing and not taking anything apart.

I'm most likely going to do the vinegar soak with the radiator as it is easy enough. Should I void the warranty on the blocks like maze4 gpu and storm2 by taking them apart to clean with vinegar or ketchup? Or should I just rinse them out with distilled and I'll be fine? Also should I unscrew the hi-flow fittings on the maze4 or leave it alone(would have to if I take it apart) seems like the o-ring on one side is a little more tightly compressed then the other side but they are both pretty tight?

Everyone says you don't have to lap the waterblocks, is that 100% accurate they look like they could use some polish if nothing else as the copper has stains on the bottom.

Also I've read you need silicone lubricant for the o-rings, is that really necessary? I've been told no more then I've been told yes.

Thanks for the help, really anxious to get this going and thats makeing me nervous becuase I'm sure I'll forget something or slap it all together in an hour and start cooking without any cleaning.
 
Personally, I'd use some distilled water (or just tap water, since it's temporary) with some vinegar (and I've also heard with some mouthwash!) and run it through the loop a few times, but that's just me. Seems that if it doesn't come out then, it won't come out when you have your coolant in it. :confused:

Most of the times, if you've bought a reputable block, it will be flatter than you could get it lapping. You've bought reputable water blocks. I wouldn't lap them.

No the silicone isn't necessary, it's just an extra precaution. I used it on my storm on the barb threads, just a bit, and I haven't had any leaks. That may be because of the o rings, though! I don't think the silicone hurts anything unless you use too much and it comes off in the loop (which would hinder performance since the storm uses jets).
