OK so i have a 6800 ultra OCed to 450/1200. I have a 3500+ amd athlon 64 processor overclocked to 3800+ speeds right now. I have 1 gb of corsair 3200 memory also overclocked.

anyway i started to play riddick and i was getting seriously lowsy FPS. im talking teens. I put the resolution on 1280x1024. I had 8x AF turned on from within game. AA was turned off. I turned all game settings up as high as they can go (i thought i had a banging ass card...) I dont understand why i get FPS like the pic in the bottom screen...

Most likely you have shader 2.0++ on, which enables soft shadows just go to shader 2.0 and it will be super smooth!
 
yeah... use 2.0 not 2.0++ which kills fps... i used 2.0 and my fps jumped from like 12 to 100 haha it was nice.. and i didn't even notice teh soft shadows until i saw some screenshots of the differrece... really not worth playing @ 1024x786 for the softshadow and still get lower fps than playing @ 1600x1200 max everything with 2.0
 
Yeah, soft shadows don't make much of a difference. The shadows are just bigger and well, softer. It's not worth the performance hit to have the softies. SM2.0++ is only soft shadows anyway.
 
Yea that seemed to do the trick, now its anywhere from 50-100 fps. Thanks that helped out alot 8)
 
yeah pick it up.. the graphics looks better than doom 3's.. well i think it "is" doom 3's engine but used more advanced :)
 
Yes i would say the graphics in this game are very close to if not better than both HL2 and Doom 3. one of the few "movie into a game port" ive played that didnt completely stink. Its definately worth playing.
 
Played the XBoX version and completed it at all difficulty settings. The game rocks.

Going to wait until it is really cheap and buy it for PC and beat it again.
