I've read both pros and cons about what people think of the revodrive, but I haven't really found a thread with this exact question. Why do you, or why do you not think, a revodrive is worth it? What is the advantages and disadvantages of the revodrive? Could I get more with the same amount of money, with just buying several SSD's and then setting them up in a raid? Thanks in advance!

If you have Intel motherboard raid (ICH10R) the answer is I believe so.

I do not think the revodrive is worth it.

First in the line, ssds fail. The revodrive is trying to put 2 or 4 of them together and raiding it for you. it has a higher chance to fail. yes, they have a 3 year warranty so you are covered, but you have to send the entire thing back, you can't just pop out the drive and replace it. with a normal raid array you have the 2 or 4 drives, and if one fails, you still have drives to work with.

With the drives themselves, you can do whatever you want with them after you're done. you can give them to a friend, split a drive off the array and put it in your brother's notebook, anything you want. can't pop out the part of a revodrive.

there's no doubt it has good performance, but that performance comes at the price of you paying one time for hardware that is good now, but can't be upgraded later.

Right, pretty much what I thought as well. Anyways, thanks for the info! Decided not to buy it :)

your next mission is to get two c300's 64gb at the $99 shellshocker price when it comes rolling around and raid them. you won't regret it.

I have a 240Gb Revo X2 and love it. This thing is super fast. I picked it up for a pretty good price during a promo on Newegg (~500.00). I figured that buying two 120Gb Vertex3 drives would have equaled or exceeded what I paid plus a raid controller would have been needed to reliably stripe the drives. I had a Patriot 120Gb SSD before this and the Revo puts it to shame. It runs on the PCIe bus so if you don't have a motherboard that supports SATA 3, that is a benefit.

I've had mine for a couple of months running on a i7 2600k system and I love it.
