Which plugins should I use for best quality? And is there anyway I can get full potential out of the revo with itunes?

Thanks

Bah. Just use Foobar. In the playback section of the options, enable 32-bit fixed point output format and Strong ATH dithering. Set your If you'de like, you can play around with the resampler. In the output options, select kernel streaming. Enjoy.

NO. Foobar is cool and all, but I have my ipod store all my recently played shit...so I want to keep either itunes or winamp

I have been thinking...maybe I should switch to some program that can play the music in 32 bit. Does anyone know if Itunes does?

And another thing...
Should I not use music enhancers such as Bass Boost, treble, and bass, TRUSurround XT, and equalizers? Should I just play the music the way the recording intended? Iguss it's a dumb question, and I could change it to my personal likings.....but does all of the tweaking distort the music?

It's physically impossible for you to play 32-bit audio from your Revo. The Revolution 7.1 features 24-bit DACs which only have 24 input bits, and similarly, the Envy24HT controller only has 24-bit outputs. Thus it is impossible for the Revo to pass a true 32-bit digital stream to the DACs for output. Don't worry; I can't name a single soundcard that features 32-bit audio capabilities, nor a DAC that can accept such a signal.

I don't care for any coloring in my sound, so I can't recommend that you use the "enhancers" you mentioned. I don't encourage ignorance, though; try them out of course.

Hey, all I know is that when I select my Revo in kernel streaming that Foobar says that the recommended bit depth is 32. I *know* that the DACS are 24bit, but when I set the output format to 24, it doesn't work. When I set it to 32, it works. End of story.

There aren't AAC (that the format) decoders for Foobar? You can't mount the Ipod and access the files in any player you like? Pfft. That sucks.

I don't see any real problem with playback through itunes, but if you want to use winamp then I would recommend Otachan's out_asio plugin. If you're playing mp3s, then you might wanna try his in_mpg123 plugin. It's one of the better mp3 decoders for winamp.
