Well I basically stopped building my computer for more than a year because of school etc. lol but it's summer and i'm back to revamping the whole system.

Basically taking everything apart, cleaning everything out from replacing tubing to cleaning inside water blocks and lapping the waterblock.
And adding some new toys such as the aqua ramplex/aquero/multiswitch/twinplex pro sli
Specs Before Revamp:
Opt 170 oc'd 2.8ghz dual prime stable
2gb OCZ Plat Edition
2x300gb SATA 2
7900GTX+6800GTO
DFI Lanparty NF4-Ultra

Idle Temps: 25
Load Temps:30

I'll be watching this...I'm heavily considering AC for my next super build. The memory blocks are a rather cool touch...might as well add mosfet blocks too... ;)

For my Opteron 165, I am eyeing the same Cuplex XT water block that you have installed in your very cool project. However, I am leery of waterblocks that do not use backplates.

Does the Cuplex XT attach to the existing backplate of your socket 939 motherboard? Or do you discard the backplate and insert bolts through the back of your motherboard?

To answer the guys above questions here are some pictures.
As you can see yes the bottom original yellow mount of the dfi lan party nf4 must be taken out, i repalced it with a plastic washer and a bolt.

as for the ramplex basically i can use the ramplex over the already placed heatspreader the memory, so basically all it does is take the heat off the heatspreader keeping it cooler for better overclocking :)
2 gigs of ram with a opteron 170, it will be hard to hit 3.0ghz with 2 gigs of ram running 250 . I only hit 2.8ghz without the ramplex cooler, with both rams running around 238 which isn't full potential.

Oohhh I like it.

But, you Have to do something about the fans in the top. Cover up the dust-proof logos with some black tape, or something. It's ruining it all. Also, how about a chipset cooler for the.. Chipset ? Those DFI chipset fans are horrendous.

yeah got that covered already with the twinplex pro and i love the yellow stickers on the top :) gives it a sporty feel to it :) acouti all the way $

I would advise you to not use the bolts without the backing plate. I did the same as you and then a week later I noticed the board was a liitle warped. :eek: So what I did was to take the original backing plate off and drill clearance holes where it was tapped. Then I inserted the round head bolts that came with the XT block so that the bolt head was resting against the mounting plate. Then you can torque down the bolts like the AC manual suggests. Thus I got to have my pie and eat it too. :D

lol yeah it is quite amazing, but i didn't get the multi channel light/fan switcher thing.

From your description, I assume that you inserted your bolts from below the motherboard: first through the backplate and then through the motherboard. Am I correct?

From the pictures supplied by lemmy, it appears that he used threaded rods with no heads. Could these rods be inserted through the top of the motherboard and threaded into the backplate without removing the motherboard and without drilling the case?
