Question :

Why doesnt [H]ardOCP start reviewing LCD screens ?? There is obviously a HUGE demand for real,in depth reviews, and not the garbage fluff we see on 9 out of 10 sites now days...

Given that [H] has a Console section now,and many here buy lcd's based on using it with a console,as well as of course gaming on the PC...

Seems a no-brainer to me.To me,most monitor reviews now,are nothing more then a advertisement for the company.I would LOVE to see LCD reviews from a [H] 'real world'
perspective! The same way video card reviews are now done,as well as with colorimeters, etc,to satisfy the hardcore/professional/'stares at gradients all day' crowd :) What do
others here think ? Everytime I go to other sites that have them, allot of times they point back to us when telling others of where to get the 'real low down' on the latest from Dell,
etc.Thoughts ??

So when will the higher ups at [H] take a look @ my idea for new reviews,on what is certainly just as important as video cards and power supplies ? :)

This is about the best suggestion I have read in a while. If there is one major PC component that has almost no good sources for reviews, tests, etc its monitors. Big thumbs!:p

This is an excellent idea. I especially think there is a lack of comparative reviews for LCD monitors. It's all good and well reading reviews for particular LCDs, but there's very little way to actually compare them without using them personally.

There aren't many...a few off the top of my head:

Behardware (extensive reviews)
Bittech (does monitors occasionally)
tftcentral
widescreengamingforum
flatpanels.dk
pcworld
cnet

No offense to those sites joe,but I want professionally done reviews. One could easily ditch half of those sites,as even they are really more putting out 'ads' then real 'reviews'...and I mean [H] style reviews, with no holds barred, total honesty
and integrity, with only the customer/end user in mind, and not the people paying the advertising bills like is done allot on many sites.

WSGF's is a excellent resource of general lcd information, and a tight knit community with many friendly and helpful members, but,(more so for widescreen of course)Its really more a gaming resource website for those looking to get the latest games working with thier recently purchased 19" LG,what have you....

But hardly a source for plentiful, solid, and indepth screen reviews ;) The user reviews are too few,and not meaty enough to really count, never mind truly indepth.Although that has changed, but only in a few recent cases with the smattering of 2690 user reviews.

CNet/PCWorld... !? OMG,both are little more then adverts and little else.Certainly no meat on the ragged bones, they throw us on those rare occasions.

BeHardware is fairly good, but dont have the accuracy or the desire to update the reviews they do over time.

TFTCentral is a great website, and Simon has integrity, but the content in the 'reviews' is more anecdotal eveidence, that is gathered over time from combing other sites like Be and [H] threads, which is and can be a wealth of info, but not the kind the industry needs.

Flatpanels.DK is not native to english speakers, and is very sparing in its english content and in the amount of reviews it does. And I am sure we are all aware, that google translaters still leave very much to be desired... :D

So......who,or what website, does that leave us with ?.......[H]

Oh, I'm not disagreeing and I think [H] should branch out and do some monitor reviews...even if you don't toss out a couple of the sites I listed...it is still a very short list and leaves plenty of room for others. I just posted that list for those that are interested in the meantime..

Ok,I see what you mean...

So who do I, or we talk to to get the ball rolling ?

........Paging Kyle Bennett.... :D
