comments? suggestions? any incompatibilities you see? i plan on OC'ing my 6600 to at least x6800 speeds. upgrading from my old agp system so going all out this time.

i won't need a third party HSF to OC my 6600 right?

err whats the other $1000 an apple cinima 30" or a dell 30"

also do your self a favor and spend the extra $30-50 and get a good heatsink... why skimp on that???

ive spent $935 thus far, and those other components i have linked to newegg are what i'm about to spend, bringing the total up to

~$2000 after tax and shipping. i already have a dell 2007wfp. =)

the reason why im "skimping" on HSF is cuz ive read so many posts on people OC'ing their c2d's on stock HSF, which leads me to believe a third party HSF isn't as necessary anymore? thoughts?

looks good to me, and I agree with the post above about getting a better HSF for that thing, especially if you plan to OC it. Also not sure if this a complete build or you are swapping i old parts but I dont see any kind of optical drive on that list.

Its true, you should be able to do 3.0 on stock with a 6600, but lower temps are *always* better. Besides, that PCP&P is WAY, WAY WAY WAY overkill, not to mention 750w. You need a Nice 550 or 600, sunbeam nuvos and enermax liberties are popular and both can be had for well under 100$.

but there is nothing wrong with having a little to much power. with all those nice components why not make sure they all get the juice they want. but I do agree they are overkill in both power and price.

**Also one thing to note about the PSU is that they are longer than most so make sure it will fit into the case**

oh yes, i plan on adding two dvd/cd rw drives to this build, as well as 2 additional 80 gb hard drives from my current computer.

after these additions is the 750w still overkill? considering i may want to upgrade to kentsfield and/or G80 in a few months?

if your planning on running 2xg80's in sli 750w would be perfect but since your not, you obviously aren't going to need a 750w psu and I doubt kentfield is gonna use up alot of juice.

You can find much better hard drive deals than that.

oh damn, thought that was the price of one.

Yes, 750W is still overkill. Rumored recommendations are a single +12V rail and 800W for 8800GTS SLI (400W for single) and 900W for 8800GTX SLI (450W single). You could get a good quality 600W and add in a 300W GPU PSU later.
